no time, less motivation
I haven't been on the bike since our Wednesday Swanson ride. I guess I'm a little depressed that I won't be racing with you guys come Saturday. There is some rain in the forecast so its anyones guess as to if you'll be racing.
Divide and conquer is the theme tonight. I'm home with the baby, while mom is with the daughter at swim lessons. It will be dark before I have any time. I think I'll make friends with the Treadmill and watch the AVS beat the RedWings tonight.
that's how to avoid the bummer life!

Mondays ride
Wednesday Swanson Ride
The tower gave me clearance. I'll bring my bike to work boys, and then just leave from here and meet you to ride. That being said, 5 p.m. or later will have to be the time! IS THIS OK FOR YOU ALL?
Rob said he could do it early, or late. I vote later! I'll have to bring some food to work so that I don't bonk on lap one. I also am looking forward to riding it, as Mod and the crew have made some changes that promise to make it flowy and sweet.
I propose: MEET in the parking lot 5:15, roll out at 5:30p.m. 2 laps, then a Gibson Whet Brew as a recovery drink?
What say you?

Just another windy Sunday.
Nebraska weather is pretty cruel to us 9 to 5 ers. I mean it can be sunny, calm and beautiful during the week only to turn sour on the weekend. Although this weekend wasn't a bust by any means, it was considered one as:
- Too muddy to ride dirt
- No riding with Friends - team gibson and gibson racing plans canceled - rain!
- i forgot about the sunscreen (its either sunburn on my arms and neck or a wicked case of wind burn!)
I was able to make it into the yard and be productive, so that was good. I need to source and have 5 cubic yards of mulch delivered this week sometime. Guess what I'll be doing come Saturday?
The forecast calls for rain tonight, and then rain/T storms on Thursday/Friday. Will it be too muddy to ride dirt this weekend?
I made it out for the 20 mile West Papio loop. This time the wind pushed me North and killed me South. There were a lot of people out enjoying the sun as the wind was gusting to 35 mph. Here are a couple of pics from the ride:

Skinny tire Sunday
I braved the north wind and made it out this afternoon. I left my house at 2 p.m. and headed south around zorinsky to the W Papio trail, then due north on the trail to dodge overpass. I was looking for 20 miles today, and the sign at Hatwhorn is where I hit 10 miles. See crappy picture of cyle computer!
The wind kept me on my toes. Not as bad as being out on a gravel road, but still pretty windy. When i turned around and headed south, the wind pushed me 5mph faster! Pay back was sweet! The trail runs really close to the train tracks. When I got close I heard a train coming so I stopped and snapped this pic:
Cruised back home with the wind pushing me. I was out for about 1.5 hours, spent over 1200 calories and enjoyed the outdoors! It was a good sunday for me!
I am heading to Denver in the a.m. for work. Be back tuesday. 73 both days there! Hopefully the trails will be dry enough for the BMCC Monday night ride. Post it up if it happens.
cya!

trainer time
I managed to spend 31:35 on the trainer last night. Why post the seconds? Because, it was hard to even get motivated to get on the thing in the first place. I made it 1:35 past 30 minutes before I gave up due to bordum and slight exhaustion. It did help that I discovered that I have the Verus network in HD now. I watched the 1st period of the Ducks vs the Stars. It helped.
It looks like the weather will break tomorrow. It will be WAAAAAAY too wet for dirt, so I'm thinking about hitting the west papio up to Bike Masters on sunday? Do you guys want to log some saddle time on Sunday? Skinny tires for me.

Inside I guess.
So the forcast calls for rain. Today through the weekend. Snow. yep.
Trainer rides are what the Magic eight ball is saying. Hopefully, April showers do bring may flowers.
on a side note: I find myself thinking about a SS 29er. Budget(and wife!) won't allow 2 bikes to be purchased in the same year (I didn't ask, but I don't have to). The good news, I think that will be the next bike that I buy. Now, I just have to find the brand!

One down.....
The first race is over, and what did we learn. Over all I feel good about this race. I felt my preparation the week before really paid off, I had a lot left in my legs the last 3 miles or so. I felt my pacing was correct, and I was able to reel some guys in. My back is a little sore still, anyone want to buy a slightly used NRS
Team Gibson did good, 3 of us finished one right after another. Greg had some technical difficulties early on, but despite that was waiting at the end for the rest of us to finish. How long did you guys stay, do you know who won the bike?

GAME ON!
The weatherman told the story.
Only .11 of an inch in the Norfork area.
This confirms it.
LET's RACE!

Last offical weigh in
work scale: 176.4 "offical"
home scale: 174.4
So I didn't reach my goal of 170. What i do know is that my body is the most happy at 175.
My birthday (cake), my daughter's birthday (cake) and Easter all didn't help on my qwest. I'm not making excuses though.
What I'm happy about is that none of my pants fit anymore! 175 is where I plan to stay for awhile! Another side goal of mine was to not be OBESE in the governments eyes. I can say that I've offically done that!

prep
I spent some time on the trainer last night. I would have loved to get outside, but the family came first. It was 9 p.m. when I finally had time to ride.
50 minutes of Coach Troy - NO MERCY satisfied my pain need.
As for tonight... I plan to clean and tighten and lube my bike.
Checklist:
cooler
lawn chairs
repair stand
spare tube
chain lube
gear (helmet/gloves/shorts/glasses/hrm/socks/shoes)
water bottles
clothes for after
Dmars, you mentioned that your wife may want/need to leave early. In that instance you would need a ride back to Omaha with me. What is the likelyhood of this occurring? By default my rack is for 2 bikes. If I need to carry more, I have to add the 2 bike attachment. If you don't need a ride, I don't have to put this on. (If I win the 29er I'll put it in the back of the Tahoe! But, I won't win it, so it doesn't matter!)

Race preperation
I am looking forward to this race, I have been reading Friel's training bible, and I am going to try doing my preparaton and warm up differently. I usually dont do much of a warm up, I was afraid of burning out my legs early. This race I am going to do a longer warm up, with a couple high intensity spins thrown in (on the preride). I plan getting there around 9am, registering, and riding about 30 mins to warm up, then have about 15 mins to rest, and hydrate. See you guys there, and good luck. Im riding tuesday and wednsday nights so maybe ill see you guys out there.
