What did you do with your Tuesday?

I went and rode some of the Silvercreek wagon trail. It's about a 10 minute ride from where we stay in Georgetown, Colorado to get there. Don't let the name fool you. It's only wide enough for a wagon for about 100 feet of the 5 mile length. Personally, I like riding in Nebraska better. Generally, if you screw up there, it won't cost you life or limbs. But, if you like riding on softball sized rocks on a 2 foot wide trail with a 30+ ft. drop-off to a nice cushy landing on jagged rocks, this is right up your alley! The trail is carved into the mountains on the south side of the I-70 corridor and is about 1/3 of the way up the mountain. Straight up on one side of the trail, straight down on the other. The little road in the background is I-70. Check out the pics.

busted my glasses.

I was cooped up all day today tending to sick Parker. He was a trooper however and dad has mended him up enough to head back to school! The weekend was so busy for me that I wasn't able to get out at all, so tonight was the first time on my bike in a few days.

As I left my house I noticed my neighbor Amy out and asked her yet again to ride. This time she said yes and I waited a few minutes for her to gear up. She told me that she had already ridden a ton today - as she teaches at Lifetime Fitness and she said that she did 2 spinning classes today.

We just did the zorbunkski loop 9.5 miles.

BUSTED comes in when I took my SPY's from their helmet perch mid rid and put them in my jersey pocket. One of the ear pieces came off in my hand. No snap, twictch, crack or creek. It was like butter.

Anyway I'm gonna see what (if anything!) Spy's will do for me. Greg said that they quit selling this model - if so, I'm bummed. I'll see. Enjoy the pics, I enjoyed the ride (except for the broken glasses part!)

out.

hmmm, it looks like rain?

Sorry guys - its been a busy week! As for the forcast, rain appears to be in our future for the next couple of days. If the weatherman is correct, Friday is supposed to be a washout.

What that means to me is that the dirt will most likely be too wet to ride. Tranq might be good on Sunday if Saturday is clear and windy. I'm thinking that it might be a good time to break out the skinnies and log a few road miles.

I'll probably do my usual 20 mile loop: zorinsky to West Papio to Maple St and back. Anyone want to join in?

S is for SWANSON & Sunday!

The start time was a 'little in question'. Although I will defend my self and tell those that didn't read the sunday post below to read it again.

Sunday was full of flats, stumps, blood, fun, friends, flats and NO guitar heros! It starts like this. I filled my tires to 40psi prior to loading my bike into the rack. All was fine until I showed up @ 1:05 p.m. and went to take my bike off the rack and had a rear flat.

No sweat, I had a spare tube in my saddle bag. Got the tire out and the Sausage King manhandled the rubber (no levers needed)! He also had a Floor Pump in his ride. Talk about a guy that you want to go and ride with (albeit the valve on the pump was shot - but it was waaaay better than my hand pump from my bag!). Anyway, we put some air in my 'BRAND NEW' spare (ok I was carrying it around in my bag for a month or two) only to find out that it had a whole in it. CRAP.

I procedded to ask if anyone had an extra tube. No fear, the KING had one and promptly dug it out of his bag. Guess what, yep, it would not hold air either. It had a whole in just about the same place. Luckily Howie had a patch kit. I took two patches (Thanks HOWIE) and repaired both tubes. That way I'd have a spare again if needed. Ok, tire fixed, holding air - We're off!

All was good for me until the "ravine" Crewcabrob knows this spot from the first time he rode it. I proceeded to take the wrong line with ends in a stump. Somehow I cut my right thigh in the fall - it must have caught a zip tie ?? We finished the lap and heading for a second.

It was a fun lap. After the second lap we all headed home. My last flat came as I was unloading my bike in the garage. It either: a. is leaking from the patch; b. the rubber has a thorn that no one could feel, c. Bad Karma to ray today?

Riders present: Sausage King, dmars, Howie, RG.
Riders not present: The guitar heros? ( I did tell the KING that they could take off when I saw that I had a flat. Maybe they took that as a que? I'm glad that the king and my boys decided to stick around, otherwise I would have still been sitting there until someone came back to patch me up!)

Good times, thanks guys - Sorry no photos - you should've been with us!

Friday!

Fast sausage and a mountain man.

The Sausage King led the first lap for me, greg, and Andy(mountain man). I could barley hang on to the back. He stopped to allow the group to regroup and I was spent. It was one of those days where I didn't have it in me. Not feeling it.

I lingered WAAAY back the rest of the ride. I was going to bail, but instead everyone decided to do a PARADE lap behing me.

2 laps were ridden. 1 fast, 1 slow. Thanks for sticking with me guys!

Fork for sale!

I have a rockshox reba race that I am trying to sell. This fork is a 2006 model, set at 85 mm travel presently (adjustable from 85 to 120 mm), 26 inch version, and is mounted on my NRS which is a 18.5 inch frame. I am asking $250. I am trying to get the last of the money together to buy a new frame.

Sunday

I managed a ride straight WEST on F street yesterday. It was a muggy hot ride that took me out to 222 st. It was only about 4 miles out, but I was not feeling to love. Plus it looked like it could rain!

I turned back and headed EAST. Man, F street is HILLY. Ended up with 8+ miles, 35+ mins and a wicked case of swampass.

Tuesday lunch ride? It's supposed to Tstorm tonight so that may be scrubbed. I'm going to try and ride with Greg on Wed/Thurs night. I need to get some dirt time in!
