Linda's new steed.

Linda just got a new bike, we have been buying parts for a couple months now, and have finally got everything we need. Last week we picked up the frame at Bike Masters, and I have spending evenings this week building it up. It is a Niner SIR nine. 853 steel EBB frame that can run geared or single. The parts are as follows: Easton EA 70 bar, lx shifters/brake levers, Oury grips, 09 Reba fork, Thomson post, WTB rocket v saddle, xt derailleurs, Race Face evolve crank set, Sram 970 cassette, and Sram 970 chain. We had Dan at bike masters build up a pair of Dt Swiss wheels with xt hubs (Dan builds awesome wheels). all in all it weighs @ 28 pounds.

Sunday Ride

I got out yesterday for a 22 mile ride with my neighbor Rich. Earlier this year he bought a road bike (top of the line bike for its day- it has downtube shifters) from a workmate and only has logged 2 rides and a total of 9 miles.

I took him up the West Papio to Maple St. He had never been on that trail and I think was happy to see it and know that its so close to our house. Rich is a runner so had no problems at all keeping up and beating my 'haven't been on my bike for 3 weeks' fitness.

I think I have a new Sunday riding buddy. Riding buddies are great as they push you to ride when you may have waivered. I snapped a pic yesterday, but the camera is still in my garage next to my spent water bottles.

Have fun tonight boys!

the weatherman....

The weather or lack there of screwed my Sunday riding. I had to make the call on the Corporate Cycling Challenge @ 6:30 a.m. yesterday. It had just finished down pouring and the radar looked as though we were going to get it again in an hour or two. Big storm between Lincoln and Omaha.

I called my riding partners - folks from work and my neighbor. We all decided that riding wet roads, and then a great possibility of getting drenched was enough to have us stay home.

I proceeded to have a cup of coffee and read the paper. A few sprinkles and clouds later and I was regretting that I did not go and ride. I venture to guess that it would have been a perfect morning to ride once the roads were dry.

lesson learned: I now have been burned twice by technology - I look at the animated radar map and make the "NO ride" call. I need to buy a rain cape.

Have fun on the MNR, wish I could be there!

M.N.R.

Who's in for the Monday night ride. I think it should be dry enough for some dirt action. Went on a nice road ride today and noticed that the ground was drying out nicely. Catch ya Tomorrow..

TTT race report

Hey team Gibson where were you guys!! The TTT race was a lot fun, great turn out, and a couple of surprises. First my race, I raced the marathon completed 4 laps (which was my goal) in a time of 3:22. My sis was kicking tail on the single speed. Linda won the female marathon category, she did 4 laps also in a time just under 3 hours, (I am thinking of adding weight to her bike for the next race). This was my first marathon, and I came in dead last, but I think most of the other guys were cat 2 or 1. It was tough, riding up the inner climb 4 times was killer, but I am glad I raced it cause I need to work on endurance if I am going to move up anytime soon. I am going to race marathon at all the remaining races you guys gonna join me??
Rob gets the award for most improved racer, he went from dead last at Swanson to 8 Th out of 22 or so guys, excellent job rob!! Chris came in second in cat 2 Great job Chris!
Thanks to everyone that helped out it was a great event
