Rack Ordered

I currenlty own a Hollywood Rack. I like it andthink that it is built well and is very sturdy. All of this information swayed me towards them when looking for a new one.

I ended on this one. It ended up being cheaper than the Thule and better built than the Yakima - per the reviews anyway. A quick froogle search had me paying not the retail of $399 but a discounted price of $314 plus free shipping. How could I pass that up?

I'm driving to the first PSYCOWPATH race, and have room for 3 other bikes!

Bike Rack - What size?

This picture depicts neither my 4 wheeled ride nor my bikes.. but it does show the issue. That is, the fact that you are looking for a bike rack to hold 2 bikes, you need to purchase a rack that will hold 4! What's up with that?

I need to buy a bigger rack. It needs to be a hitch rack - 2" variety. I want to be able to carry at least 3 - Full Size, Adult, Dual Suspension Bikes.

I think that most of the time it will be just carrying my bike. My thought is that I will soon be carrying my kids and wife's bikes too.

I'm headed to MTBR.com ; but would love some advice! Got any?

Yee haw! err, bummer trainer.

Just over 1hr tonight. 647 calories spent. I don't recall the HR info.

I think that the TOWER will allow a take off on Sunday. I hate to say it but, it will be my first time on the gravel!

Gravel grinder?

Sunday - 42 degrees is what I'm seeing! (its -2 now according to my weather gadget)

I would love to get out on some gravel. What time and duratation are you thinking? I will most defintely have to plan this in advance with the family. The sooner you can provide the details, the more likely I will be able to attend!

Please tell me that there is a DOG that will provide some sprinting action on the route. It will take me back to my kid bike riding days. Any other BMCC guys going to tag along?

trainer time logged

I was able to squeeze in 34 mins of goodness last night. Spinnervals 9/ NO MERCY was it.

Spent 19 minutes in the zone - burned 364 calories. um, that's three Bud Lights if you are counting. Per the weather man, we are in for a heat wave this weekend. Mid thirties on Saturday and Sunday - Will that be TOO WARM to ride outside?

I want to get out if I can!

cold out; cold in

The kiddies were both sick last week. I was home twice with them. They gave me the funk.. I call it "daycare krud". You know what I'm talking about if you have kids that have gone or go to daycare.

Every kid in the class has a runny nose. Your kid is next!

I'm taking these, it can't hurt can it?

No time on the bike at all this weekend. I slept a lot. I plan on a spin tonight, in doors of course.

Offical weigh in

Ok, so to keep me honest and focused on my weight loss goal, I joined a group at work. They have coined it the "BIGGEST LOSER" contest. This is its second go around. I did not participate in the first one.

They have teamed me with 7 other people (all ladies) and our goal is to lose more weight (in %) than the other 3 teams. Each person threw in $25, and our company kicked in $200. It runs for 12 weeks.

Payouts occur as follows:
Biggest % loss Male
Biggest % loss Female
a runner up in each of the above categories
Biggest % loss/ Team

GOAL: 170
1/11/07 Start: 186.8
1/18/07 Work Scale weight: 183.2

CAT EYE HRM

Team Gibson's offical heart rate monitor is the Cateye MSC-HR10.
Why? well, two reasons:

1. The elder Team Gibson member has one and likes it.

2. I just needed the heart rate function. I already have a cycle computer on my bar for distance, speed, time.

I do dig the calorie function that is built into this thing. I'd love someone to post some information on training with a HRM - as this weekend will be a first for me.

(Note: I froogled this and ended up buying it from a guy on ebay. Buy it now price was $39 plus $6 shipping. When I got it yesterday, it still had and orage price tag on it; it said $64.99.) I love when I find a good deal!

Free lunch!

I just ate this 1800 calorie lunch. A coworker won 34 of the them by dropping her business card in their fish bowl.

It was damn good!

it happened.........................

I was able to get on this last night for around 50 minutes. Nonscietific website information states that I burned 540 calories.
I'm happy with that!
Thanks Robbie

Nothing came of the trainer ride last night. Life happened.

Today however starts the weightloss and excercise plan. http://www.sparkpeople.com/ Trust me, this site works, so long as you are committed.

Twice a week on the bike (trainer counts too) is where I'm starting. I just have to figure out how to juggle this and the family requirements!

im on my own.
