Sunday GPS

It died at the turn around point -- it didn't track back! See it here!

Sunday Gravel was FUN!

We managed about two hours in the saddle yesterday - around 19 miles. Dale, Greg and Dave were all in attendance. We took a route that I've never been on. 132 to Standing Bear. North around Standing Bear to IDA Street, IDA street West to 216th(I think) and then back the same route.

Dale was riding fixed so he'd pass us on the climbs and then we'd return the favor on the downhills. That man can SPIN.

Greg gave me a GU packet at the turn. I've never eaten one before so I was unsure of what to expect. A simple twist of the wrist and the package was open. I was however not ready for what ensued. A thick, lemon lime, Mucus (just like a huge LUGEY) filled my mouth. It was hard to swallow! I struggled for a drink (as everyone told me to wash it down.) 2 minutes later I was hacking as if I was going to throw up. Thankfully I didn't, but I was close!

Thanks Dale for the Cliff Blocks, I can do those!

Beware of dog!!

went riding today on the gravel north of town, (the route we took last time). I had company for a little while, a big white Boxer/pit bull looking dog chased me for a quarter mile each way. This was the dog we saw last time that came part way across the field towards us. He didnt try to bite me or anything, just barked loudly while making a general nusence of himself. I swear he was saying "hurry up fatty" at one point. Also, it looks like they put down fresh gravel in several spots so it is a little deep in a couple spots. I didnt have trouble, but just wanted to warn u guys riding skinny tires.

Sunday Gravel it Is!

In an effort to get in as much saddle time as possible, it makes the most sense to ride gravel. I say meet at Greg's @ 1:15 - Ride 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

What say you?

pictures

here are the pictures from todays ride

Had the day off, so...guess what I did.

It was only supposed to get to 28 today so i thought riding was a nogo, but the themometer at my house said 36 at 1:30. I broke the cob webs off the bike for a little road ride. I went up to ft calhoun and back along country roads, @25 miles total, had a great time felt good to get out in the fresh air. Here are some pics i took along the way.
Also, i think i saw dale along the way driving his van

gravel anyone?

Wanna ride bikes?

the forcast is calling for 40 degrees on Sunday. I'm thinking that a 1-2hr ride is in order. Say during naptime on Sunday? 1 - 3 p.m.?

Meet at Standing Bear Lake and head north?!

**side note. F75 is in, I plan on picking it up on Thursday. maybe we should ride skinnny tires this weekend, GREG?

wasted weekend

Man, it was one brutal weekend on this Team Gibson's front. It started out on Thursday. I was home with baby Parker who had a fever. I guess that he decided to give it to me and I COULD NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME GIVE IT BACK! Worked 2 hours on Thursday, 0 hours on friday.
Saturday @ 3 a.m. is finally when
my fever broke.
I spent 0 hrs in the saddle. The 40 degree day on Saturday was beckoning me for a ride, but I was zapped and had no energy, drive or anything else happening. I think that I spent most time this weekend laying prone in bed.
I'm left with a head full of snot. I'll be buying some 500 mg Ibuprofin and some lotion laced kleenex!
Spent time with family on saturday night, that was nice. Race Team plans were made!

Will my FELT be here this week? I think I'll call the shop tomorrow to find out.

RIDE!

It doesn't matter how! Thanks BorK!

I love NE

17 today... Avg temp should be 37. I have said it before, "God, dislikes Mountain Bikers!"... Now I think that he just doesn't like any of us.

My FELT F75 is on order boys! Dave @ Bike Masters hooked me up. It is supposed to be in on thursday or friday. What a great VD present! (It's ok to get yourself a VD present, right?)

At any rate, I intend to spend some time on the trainer tonight. May be the last time the '91 Specialized RockHopper see's the indoors. I will hang on to it though, as the BURLEY needs a bike to pull it!

Dave - check your email man!... I've invited you 10 times to be an author here. What else can I do?! (or should I just take the hint that you want no part of TEAMGIBSON? )

a work in progress...

This was waiting for me yesterday when I got home from work. The box is a little beat-up as you can see.

I now know why! It's 70+ lbs of hurkey box. I'll bet that the UPS guy was pissed when he had to bring it to my front door! So I understand the conditions.

I got it inside and opened. This thing is BIG and HEAVY and HEAVY-DUTY. I attempted to start working on it last night. I got past step 2. I need to do as the instructions suggest and install it in the receiver hitch to "stablize" it.

Team Gibson can now haul 4 bikes! Word!

Saturday

I have an "appointment" with this smiling, waving guy on Saturday afternoon. I'll bet the skinny tires will be with me shortly thereafter!
Peace!

big ass on skinny tires...

I recall an early Saturday a.m. last summer. It was humid as hell, but not yet blazing hot. I was parked at Bike Masters unloading my bike for an early morning ride at tranquility. While I was unloading the Saturday a.m. road ride guys were also showing up and unloading.

Greg met me and a converstation with a roadie ensued, "Those tires on that bike are too FAT!". We smiled and ribbed back a little and went on our merry way. That comment has always stuck with me. We'll I'm now eyeing the prize.
Yep, skinny too!

Sheldon Brown...

Greg has always pimped him. I found out today that he passed away on 2/3/08. Will someone preserve his knowledge and his site? I hope so as I need it!

Read about him at his wiki page.

No time for gravel

I didn't have any time on the schedule today for a ride. If I had a choice, I would've opted for gravel with the posse.

Zorinsky was about 75% clear. I just slowed way down and unclipped at the sketchy spots. I'm happy to report that I stayed up! 869 calories and 9+ miles logged. I was the only bike on the lake. A couple of joggers said I was crazy, I just smiled and said yep!
