Psycowpath #3 Platte River

I had some time to think yesterday a.m. while driving into work. I was pondering the marathon event and the team scenario when it hit me. None of us are planning on winning the race. None of us are heading out there to gain fame and glory, right? So why not just go out there and ride our bikes like we normally would, in a group instead of on a team where I sit, while you ride. I want to ride WITH You.

This is exactly what we did at the MAN-0-War race last year. So, what do you say? I say we all sign up individually, and ride together. Team Gibson in spirit, we all ride together.

I'm thinking about it... I wasn't sure if you had to have someone on the trail at all times or if you could just do what ever you wanted to. Funny that we are getting all excited to spend $25 to go ride a trail and punish ourselves for 6 hours.
Guys, do beers and marathons mix?
The wife told me to go buy a hydration pack for my next race. I may run down to the shop at noon and look at which one I want. Is Camelbak the best set up to buy? I see that Ergon has a nice backpack, but then you have to buy a bladder for it.

I guess we do it cause we like to ride bikes!

Beers and Marathons do mix. Although I won't probably drink one till I'm done. I don't intend on staying the full 6 hrs. I think my venture will be more like 3-4.

I don't use a pack, bottles. Greg has a Camelbak and I know dmars uses a pack, I'm not sure the brand though. If it where me, I think I'd buy the Camelbak.

I am not sure if I will ride Platte or not so riding individual sounds like the best bet. I use a camelbak, and I perfer their bladder system to the others I have seen. Hydration packs make it easier and more convienent to keep hydrated during a race, or ride in general. Do you guys want to preride Platte next week?

I wouldn't mind to get out there and preride it. I've only ever ridden there once. What day\time did you have in mind?

I talked to Ryan about the marathon, and I think we both like the idea of riding it individual and going out as a group. It makes more sense considering that we can ride when we want, with no pressure, and ride as much or as little as we want. It also makes it easier to manage than having to worry about pairing up for the teams.

A preride may be tough for me to arrange, but I could go on Tuesday or Thursday evenings next week. I leave work at 3:30 most days, so I could be up there shortly after 4pm.

Ryan could try to make it with me, and would really be helpful since I have never rode up there and have no idea what to expect.

Tuesdays my sister and I ride mountain bikes. She is a roady, and I am kind of coaching her on the off road aspect of things. I could always bring her with us if you guys dont mind.

I like the idea of all of us riding together. I don't know if I will be able to do a pre ride. I will keep you all posted.

dmars,
Bring your sister, I think it's nice to have a larger group of riders. Tuesday looks like it should work for me at this point. I didn't see anything on my schedule for that night.
I'll check with Ryan and see if he can make it up there too.
With all the rain last night, your Friday morning ride doesn't look good for dirt.
Side note here, have you guys heard about when the ped-bridge is going to open up for riders? I would love to bring the fmaily up to ride over the big mo.

I may not preride either guys. It isnt that critical because this is a marathon, and the first lap will be our warm up/preride anyway.

No preride for me now, the wife wants to go to a wine tasting. Sorry guys, I am bailing on you.

Things have been really quiet, or is it just me?

I'm officially out, I thought we were going to a wine tasting tonight, but now we have to go to a school concert for one of our daughters. I think I may need the wine before and after now.

rafal, it looks like we all will be using our first lap as the recon lap come Sunday.

Sorry that it didn't work out this time. But I'd love to have you ride with us anytime in the future!
