I don't think the race will happen if we get any more rain...
Details:
- The ditch when you're coming back towards the road is FULL OF WATER
- There are standing puddles in a lot of areas
- Some of the trail was good (relatively speaking), other parts were really greasy and sticky
As of now, he's got about 10 volunteers so that should be good.
As for racing on Sunday - the amount of rain will dictate. Ted said he'll be checking the trail tomorrow night, but if there's a lot of rain overnight - it won't look good for either day.
Bad news:
If the race does get cancelled, there may be no reschedule. Super hard to coordiante a new date with all involved.

Stink! I Kind of figured that it would be like that.
Now I'm going to have to sit home all day Saturday. Maybe I can hit some paved trails for a ride. Beer anyone?
That's what I was thinking.
SKINNY TIRE SATURDAY - Greg: you took the day off, right?
Let's ride the cement!
I hate that I'm stuck here in Lincoln. You guys get to ride togeather and I have to beg my daughter to go ride with me...
Tonda thought I would be racing Saturday so she decided she would work on Saturday, so she won't be able to go either.
I know I could run up there and ride with you, but with gas prices the way they are, it doens't make any sense for me to load the bike, drive to Omaha so I can go ride. Fart...how come I have to be so practical about things??? Good news, I have commuted to work on my bike for two weeks now. Well, today I actually walked since I had to drag my laptop with me. Coffee in one hand, laptop, breakfast/lunch in the other and none for the handlebars...
Nice weather we are having. I'm guessing the race will be a bust. Darn it!
Looking at the schedule, it looks like the next race will be at Ponca. Anyone been up there? We camped there once when I was a kid, and all I remember was riding my BMX down the long steep road in the park. Boy do I love hills...
Did you guys get organized for the weekend skinny tire ride? I mowed my neighbors lawn yesterday, so my beer situation is improving. :) he should be dropping by a 12 pack of Bud Light Lime this evening for my enjoyment.
hmmm I don't mind the bud light lime. It reminds me of Mexico - ok, just a little!
As for the weather - wow. All of the creeks that I passed by on the way into the office were all at the tops of their banks.
Offically in Omaha we got 2.3 inches. Council Bluffs was over 3.
I'm going to have Ted call me after he checks the trail tonight. I can post/call you when I hear for sure if you like!?
As for skinny tires - ROB, i think that just you and I are reading this blog this week! I'll have to call Greg/dmars and see if they are interested. I'm riding skinny tires regardless if the race is canceled.
As for Ponca - I don't think any of TEAM GIBSON are going. Too far for one. I think I'll just log some extra time at Tranq riding that day.?
Hey guys whats happening. I think the race is a bust too. I may be up for a road ride saturday, or I may get my kayak out. I have been kind of neglecting the kayak this year. let me know whats up.
Also, if the race is cancelled, we should to get together at manawa some weekend for a team gibson ride.
The jury is out on Ponca for me; I would love to ride it but with gas so hi, I don't know if its worth it to drive up and ride for an hour. If I fill my rack with bikes and the Pathfinder with people, it's easier to justify it. Ryan isn't sure about that one. He is having kid issues for that weekend as I think his wife is going out of town too. I think he may have somehting in the works, but it's hard to say at this point. I think that Harp said they were going to Seatle during that race. I can't rmember if he said he was going or not. I won't go if it's just me. If everyone from Lincoln bails on me, I could swing through Omaha and grab Team Gibson.
Have fun this weekend riding! I'll make sure to get some miles in tomorrow.
Rob
I'm really hoping for a miracle and a race this weekend.
Rob, I may be looking for a ride up to Ponca. That would be an early morning.
Guys no Race Saturday - there is still a slim hope for Sunday.
