will the weather hold? we've got some racin to do!

I said it last year as I stood in line in the foul weather before last years Norfolk race..., "I think that God hates mountain bikers." I didn't utter that because of some accident, it was because of the weather that always ensued a race. Mostly rain. Wash out, you know.

The weather cats are saying BLIZZARD. Not for us (although I did hear that we could have an inch or so of snow overnight), but Norfork, NE is under some sort of advisory. They have the possibillity of getting copious amounts of snow. I'm not racing, but I hope you guys can!

the Evil Mother nature

I hate the be the bearer of bad news... but I'm glad that I got out and rode last weekend. The King skipped work and rode yesterday afternoon. I heard it was an EPIC weather day.

They say 5 to 10 inches are coming:
SNOW...HEAVY AT TIMES...SHOULD BEGIN TO OVERSPREAD THE WATCH AREA FRIDAY MORNING AND LAST THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY EVENING BEFORE TAPERING TO FLURRIES LATER FRIDAY EVENING. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 5 TO 10 INCHES ARE EXPECTED ACROSS A LARGE PORTION OF THE WATCH AREA...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. IN ADDITION...TO THE SNOW...NORTHEAST WINDS OF 15 TO 30 MPH WOULD CAUSE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW RESULTING IN REDUCED VISIBILITIES AND HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS.

I'll keep my bike on the trainer!

Vertigo and ...

Over the last 2 weeks, I've had 2 seperate vertigo spells.  You know, the feeling that you (or I) get when reading in the car.  It's no good.

My motivation is low, its 0 outside - What keeps you going?

Trainer plans tomorrow night.  Tonight, I think I'll drink a beer.  I may as well have a few, so that I can get the bed spins for real!

Monday 36 to start - 42 to end

I ventured out before the storm.  Great temps and conditions.  I again rode all of the singletrack that zorinksy had to offer.  36 degrees felt great!  As for the Storm - the winter weather advisory has been cancelled and now the weather man is only calling for 1" of snow.  They  say that we are going to dodge the big stuff.  Fine by me I guess!
This picture is of the damn.  The city put tires around all of the obsticles in preparation for sledding season.  Didn't the city ban sledding in PUBLIC AREAS a year or two ago?  When the kids get bigger, we'll be here! - ummm, if its still legal!

Update: Busted Glasses

My luck with emailing company's about products has been dismal at best. Not that I don't know how to email, nor is it about a lack on an Internet connection. NO, its about Customer Service, or better yet, the lack of customer service that's got me floored.

I emailed SPYOPTICS and told them I loved their product, and have been wearing them for years. I told them I'd PAY to get a new frame.

the response: NOTHING.

So, I did what anyone would do in this circumstance. Cracked open the SUPER GLUE. It worked - well I haven't ridden with them yet, but at least it appears as though it worked! Note: The ear piece slid just a few mm's down - so when you see me wearing them know that its not my ears that are crooked, just my glasses!

WORD for the weekend: MELTY and (work).

Saturday may be the only day that I can ride - probably skinny tires too - Sunday is a mandatory work day - INVENTORY. I used to go on group rides with my buddies. Oh how I miss those days!

Just another windy Sunday.

Nebraska weather is pretty cruel to us 9 to 5 ers. I mean it can be sunny, calm and beautiful during the week only to turn sour on the weekend. Although this weekend wasn't a bust by any means, it was considered one as:
  • Too muddy to ride dirt
  • No riding with Friends - team gibson and gibson racing plans canceled - rain!
  • i forgot about the sunscreen (its either sunburn on my arms and neck or a wicked case of wind burn!)
I was able to make it into the yard and be productive, so that was good. I need to source and have 5 cubic yards of mulch delivered this week sometime. Guess what I'll be doing come Saturday?

The forecast calls for rain tonight, and then rain/T storms on Thursday/Friday. Will it be too muddy to ride dirt this weekend?

I made it out for the 20 mile West Papio loop. This time the wind pushed me North and killed me South. There were a lot of people out enjoying the sun as the wind was gusting to 35 mph. Here are a couple of pics from the ride:

GAME ON!

The weatherman told the story.
Only .11 of an inch in the Norfork area.
This confirms it.

LET's RACE!

Meet at Standing Bear Lake and head north?!

**side note. F75 is in, I plan on picking it up on Thursday. maybe we should ride skinnny tires this weekend, GREG?

wasted weekend

Man, it was one brutal weekend on this Team Gibson's front. It started out on Thursday. I was home with baby Parker who had a fever. I guess that he decided to give it to me and I COULD NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME GIVE IT BACK! Worked 2 hours on Thursday, 0 hours on friday.
Saturday @ 3 a.m. is finally when
my fever broke.
I spent 0 hrs in the saddle. The 40 degree day on Saturday was beckoning me for a ride, but I was zapped and had no energy, drive or anything else happening. I think that I spent most time this weekend laying prone in bed.
I'm left with a head full of snot. I'll be buying some 500 mg Ibuprofin and some lotion laced kleenex!
Spent time with family on saturday night, that was nice. Race Team plans were made!

Will my FELT be here this week? I think I'll call the shop tomorrow to find out.

I love NE

17 today... Avg temp should be 37. I have said it before, "God, dislikes Mountain Bikers!"... Now I think that he just doesn't like any of us.

My FELT F75 is on order boys! Dave @ Bike Masters hooked me up. It is supposed to be in on thursday or friday. What a great VD present! (It's ok to get yourself a VD present, right?)

At any rate, I intend to spend some time on the trainer tonight. May be the last time the '91 Specialized RockHopper see's the indoors. I will hang on to it though, as the BURLEY needs a bike to pull it!

Dave - check your email man!... I've invited you 10 times to be an author here. What else can I do?! (or should I just take the hint that you want no part of TEAMGIBSON? )
